BorrowWise respects your privacy. This policy sets out what personal information we collect, why we collect it and how it is handled.
1.Scope of this policy
This policy explains how BorrowWise handles personal information collected through this website. We manage personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
By using this website or submitting an enquiry, you acknowledge that your personal information will be handled as described in this policy.
2.Personal information we collect
We collect personal information only when you choose to provide it, principally through the free assessment enquiry form. The information collected is:
- your name, email address and mobile number;
- the purpose of your enquiry and the approximate loan amount, where you provide them;
- the page from which the enquiry was submitted, the referring website and the type of browser used.
3.Cookies and analytics
We use one essential cookie to remember your cookie preference. You can change your choice at any time through Cookie settings in the footer. Two kinds of measurement are used, and they work differently.
Page counts from our host. Our hosting provider, Vercel, counts page views without cookies. For each page view it records the page address, the referring site, campaign tags, the approximate country, region and city, and the device type, browser and operating system. It recognises a visit using a hash made from the request, which is discarded after 24 hours, and it does not store your IP address with the data or follow you across other websites. We see these figures only as totals. This counting runs by default and stops completely if you select Reject optional. It never covers the console, and other query strings are removed from page addresses before they are sent.
Detailed analytics, only with your consent. The measurement described in the rest of this section remains off unless you select Accept all in the cookie notice.
When you consent, we assign random visitor and session identifiers and collect page views, referring source, campaign tags, approximate country, region and city supplied by our host, device and browser category, engagement time, scroll depth, navigation and assessment-button clicks, calculator engagement, suburb comparison activity, form progress and website performance measurements. We do not store your raw IP address in analytics.
Analytics identifiers are kept separate from your identity unless you submit an assessment enquiry. If you do, the consenting session may be linked to the enquiry so we can understand which pages, calculators and campaign led to it. Detailed analytics events and identifiers are retained for 13 months. Identifier-free daily totals may be kept for longer-term trend reporting.
With the same consent we also use Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager, supplied by Google LLC. These tools set their own cookies and collect the pages you view, the referring site and campaign tags, your approximate location derived from your IP address, your device and browser, and interactions such as scrolling and clicks on links to other websites. They also receive a small set of named events, such as a calculator being started or an enquiry being sent, without any of the details.
We do not send Google what you type into a form, the figures you enter into a calculator or the results shown to you. The tools never run on our administration pages. The consent settings we pass to Google permit analytics only, not advertising.
Google handles this information under its own privacy policy and may store it on servers outside Australia, including in the United States. If you later select Reject optional, the tools stop loading and the cookies they set on this website are deleted.
4.Calculators
Figures entered into the calculators on this website are processed in your browser. They are not transmitted to us, stored by us or linked to your identity. If you accept analytics, we record only that a named calculator was started or meaningfully used, and pass only that fact to Google, never the figures entered or results shown.
5.Why we collect and how we use it
We collect personal information for the primary purpose of responding to your enquiry, which includes arranging for an accredited mortgage broker to contact you. We also use it to maintain records of enquiries, to improve the website and to comply with our legal obligations.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for unrelated marketing without your consent.
6.Disclosure to third parties
To respond to your enquiry we disclose your details to an accredited mortgage broker, who will contact you. That broker is subject to their own privacy and credit licensing obligations and will provide their own disclosure documents.
We also use reputable service providers to host this website and to store enquiry records. These providers may hold data on servers located outside Australia. Where that occurs, we take reasonable steps to ensure the information is handled consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.
7.Storage and security
Enquiry records are stored in an access-controlled database that is not publicly accessible. We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure, and we destroy or de-identify information that is no longer required.
8.Access, correction and complaints
You may request access to the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. You may also make a complaint about how your information has been handled. We will respond within a reasonable period, generally within 30 days.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
9.Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version will always be published on this page with the date of the most recent revision.
Please also read our Terms of Use.
