BorrowWise
Free assessment

Free home loan assessment

For borrowers who are purchasing, refinancing or reviewing an existing rate, a BorrowWise-accredited broker will compare the circumstances against 30+ lenders and present the findings. The assessment is free, independent and without obligation.

How the assessment works

1

Submit a short enquiry

The enquiry takes about two minutes and covers the purpose of the loan and approximate income and debts. No documents are required at this stage, and no credit check is triggered.

2

A broker compares the market

A BorrowWise-accredited broker compares the scenario against the credit policies and negotiated rates of 30+ lenders, rather than advertised rates.

3

The available options are presented

Within one business day, the broker outlines the likely borrowing capacity, an appropriate rate, and the cost of switching or purchasing. There is no obligation to act on the assessment.

Figures may be estimated beforehand using the borrowing power calculator or the refinance calculator. An explanation of how BorrowWise is remunerated is set out in the frequently asked questions.

Questions about the free assessment

What does the assessment cost?

The assessment is free. If a loan is eventually settled, the lender pays the broker a commission. This is how mortgage broking operates across the industry, and it does not change the borrower's rate or fees.

Does the assessment affect a credit score?

No. The assessment is a discussion and a market comparison, not a loan application. No entry is made on a credit file unless and until an application is lodged with a specific lender.

Is there any obligation to proceed?

No. Many people use the assessment to confirm that an existing loan remains competitive, or to set a savings target. There is no obligation to proceed, and the assessment may be revisited when circumstances change.

Who makes contact after the enquiry is submitted?

An accredited mortgage broker from the BorrowWise network makes contact: a licensed individual bound by the Best Interests Duty, not a call centre or an automated dialling service. Contact is made within one business day, and usually sooner.
